Toronto's The Creepshow made their way up the 400HWY to play a show at the Mansion on Friday night. I'm not the only one in Barrie who was glad they did. They are a band I've been wanting to see for a long time but just hadn't been able to. The band comprised of Sarah "SIN" Blackwood (vocals/guitar), Sean "Sick Boy" McNab (stand-up base/vocals), The Reverend McGinty (organ, vocals) and Matt "Pomade" Gee on drums grabbed the Barrie audience's attention quickly with the fast paced energetically fun "Rue Morgue Radio" from their latest release "Run for Your Life".
They got a long really well with the eager crowd bantering back and forth. At one point Sean "Sick Boy" McNab mentioned how someone had asked him "Why the hell are you playing in Barrie?" saying his response to anyone who asks him that ever again would receive an resounding "f**k you!"
They play fast paced psychobilly tunes that sound great and are a lot of fun to see live. It is easy to see how popular they are with fans of the genre. The Creepshow will be doing a couple more Canadian dates before heading to the U.S., Australia and then Japan.
